Welcome to Viñas Zurinaga! Located in the Sebastopol Hills sub-appellation of Sonoma Coast, our grapes derive their special characteristics from the Goldridge soil they are planted in and a coastal micro- climate of warm days and cool nights that are considered ideal for producing the best possible artisan Pinot Noir.
Wine complexity is provided by the field blend of five clones that comprise the vineyard, each contributing different and nuanced characteristics. Our small vineyard size allows for meticulous farming that yields superior fruit. Utilizing classic Burgundian techniques, the wine is allowed to “become” in French oak barrels for fourteen months, without manipulation. The result is a truly hand crafted wine that we are proud to put our name on.
Estate Grown 2015 Viñas Zurinaga Pinot Noir
On October 7, 2017, we will release our ultra-premium 2015 Estate Grown Pinot Noir. It has a lovely perfume of violets and ripe plum. The silken mouthfeel opens, first, to a burst of bright cranberry, or alpine strawberry, then it deepens and develops darker fruits -- like black cherry. It has a lively mid-palate and, with decanting, more and more of its richness develops with time. It has refined, tight tannins that also soften with air -- indicative of the age-worthiness of this vintage. It finishes with some earthy herbs and pleasing tobacco. All-in-all quite lovely!
Our wine shows its best side when paired with savory foods. It can be easily cellared for ten years or more. When drinking young, we recommend decanting for two to three hours before consuming to enhance your drinking experience.
